A pre-order bonus DLC car: While this car was downloadable content, and technically isn't hidden or unused, it is actually possible to obtain this car without having the downloadable content installed, using hacking or modifications to the save data. This car was an exclusive pre-order bonus DLC car for players who pre-ordered their copy of the game at GameStop. It is a clone of the 2010 Joey Logano #20 The Home Depot TOYOTA CAMRY '10, with identical specifications and performance. However, this car sports a special livery, with decals of GameStop, PS3, and the game's emblem on the car.

The car's description notes this, followed by the base car's description: This car is a special edition model of the 2010 NASCAR entrant, Joey Logano's #20 The Home Depot TOYOTA CAMRY with original coloring designed by Gran Turismo. While this car is coded as DLC, it has a 1/23 chance to be added to the player's Garage via a.
However, Gift Car Coupons based on a year were only distributed when it was the player's birthday and the player was connected to the online services; the information that the player has on their PSN account was used for determining the Gift Car Coupon that the game would give the player. Since the online services for the game are now offline since 2014, and at the time of Sony's Terms of Service for the creation of a PSN account (the requirement being 18 years or older for a Main Account), this would mean that getting this Gift Car Coupon normally would be in the year of 2028. Had the online services remained online until then, this Gift Car Coupon would have been obtainable; despite being coded into the game, it remained unused. One can manually add the 2010 Gift Car Coupon into their inventory through hacking their save data, and with the luck of the draw, the car will appear in the player's Garage. Another way to obtain the car is with the use of a. These items were never used in the game, however, and they must be manually added to the player's save data.
Also, this Gift Car Coupon has a 1/83 chance to give the car to the player as compared to a 1/23 chance. If the car was added to the player's Garage with the use of either Gift Car Coupon, the car will remain fully playable for only the current session of the game. If the game is exited, and the game is started again, the car will then exhibit properties that any other DLC car will have, requiring the appropriate DLC files installed into the game's install data to use it again, but will remain in the player's Garage. Out of all the DLC cars in the game, this is the only DLC car that has a chance to be obtained via a Gift Car Coupon. This is most-likely due to the fact that the car has the Year value of its base car, while the other pre-order DLC cars do not have a Year value. The later DLC cars that were added starting from Version 2.00 were coded to be excluded from being drawn from any Gift Car Coupon at all. Given the means necessary to obtain this car, it is considered rare.
As this car is downloadable content, the proper DLC files must be present in the game's install data in order to use this car normally in GT Mode, but it can be raced as in Arcade Mode, or against as an opponent car by using the game's Secret options. The car itself had been reported to appear in the B-spec based Remote Racing mode, which also depended on the online service. One of the many DLC cars added in Version 2.00 of the game (or the Spec 2.0 Update as it was formally named): While this car was downloadable content, and technically isn't hidden or unused, the means of obtaining it were rather.interesting.
On March 15, 2011, the North American PlayStation Store announced a limited promotion with Schick and Edgewell, whom are companies that make personal care products. Each product had an on-pack code that the consumer could then enter at a specific URL, along with their e-mail address, to obtain another code that could then be redeemed on the PlayStation Store. One of these products, which was one of the two Edge shaving gels, had Gran Turismo 5 on the packaging, and thus contained the code used to redeem this car. (Source: ) An exploit was figured out by users to easily obtain the downloadable content without having to purchase the product. On the URL (now offline) used to redeem the product's on-pack code, users could use a code that was taken from an already purchased product; the same code could be used more than once, and was thus distributed widely around the Internet.
Users could also use disposable e-mail accounts on the URL, avoiding having to enter their personal e-mail addresses and probably avoiding any marketing material sent to them. The promotion seemed to end a few months later, users reported, when the URL went offline and codes could no longer be redeemed. The car is nearly identical to the Chevrolet Camaro SS '10, except it has visual differences, featuring a violet paintjob that cannot be changed, a white Gran Turismo logo vinyl with twin racing stripes, small Gran Turismo graphics dotted around the car, and unique wheels that cannot be resprayed. It also features a unique exhaust tip placement when tuned with a Titanium Racing Exhaust.
A unique blob of text at the top of the car's description can be found, otherwise re-using the text of the car its based off of for the rest of its description: This is a special color version of the Camaro SS (2010). The following is a description of the base car: Given the means necessary to obtain this car, it is considered rare. As this car is downloadable content, the proper DLC files must be present in the game's install data in order to use this car in GT Mode, but it can be raced as in Arcade Mode, or raced against as an opponent car by using the game's Secret options. An unused car added in Version 2.00 of the game: It appears to be nearly identical to the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010 with a few visual differences. The car is in an off-white primary color with a red circular patch in the design of the Japanese flag, just like the name states. It has a few text graphics of the car's full name on the engine cover near the red patch and in-reverse near the wheel covers. On the wheel covers themselves, there are yellow Pirelli graphics, instead of Bridgestone graphics that are on all other versions of the X2010.
The Red Bull graphics on the front wing, nose, and rear wing of the car are colored-in instead of monochrome, like on the S.Vettel variant. The car also has a setting for a Car Number in the Garage, but doesn't seem to appear anywhere on it when set. Otherwise, the modeling and performance are pretty much identical to the colored X2010 and the Prototype version. It is not exactly known what the purpose of this car's addition was. It has a different description, while summarizing the descriptions from the other models, that gives a little insight: The dream project known as the X2010 is the result of a joint venture between the minds of Gran Turismo and Red Bull Racing.
It’s the ultimate racecar, one free of all regulations, designed only to go fast. This particular version wears the colors of the Japanese flag, to support the recovery of Japan from the Great East Earthquake that hit the Tohoku region on March 11, 2011. To many of you, the X2010 needs no introduction. In short, it represents Gran Turismo’s dream to make the fastest racing car on earth. To make this dream a reality, GT sought the assistance of Red Bull Racing, the F1 race car constructor that has attained the pinnacle of the sport, winning several championships in recent years.
Its chief technical officer and aerodynamics genius, Adrian Newey, played an especially important role in the X2010’s creation. The initial X2010 was proposed as a single-seat machine with covered wheels; however, when looking at the design sketches of the prototype X2010, Newey recommended the addition of “suction fans.” Creating a “fan car” had been one of his lifelong dreams. In this technology, air is forced out from underneath of the car via fans, resulting in reduction in air pressure at the underbody, thus “sucking” the car towards to the ground. This significantly increases the cornering speeds in low-speed corners.
The X2010 achieves a maximum speed of over 311 mph and pulls in amazing 8G’s of lateral acceleration. The X2010 is the personification of the Dream for Speed, created from the imagination of Gran Turismo and Red Bull Racing. The car is hidden in the game's data, inaccessible by normal means. One can hack the car into their save data to access it in GT Mode, or by using the Secret options to play as it in Arcade Mode or race against as an opponent car. Although, starting with Version 2.12, the car becomes inaccessible:.
The car's thumbnail is now blank in both GT Mode and Arcade Mode. Viewing the car in the Garage in GT Mode will not display the car's model at all.
Going into GT Auto in GT Mode with the car will cause the game to load indefinitely, essentially a soft-lock. The player must quit the game at this point. Playing as the car in any race event in GT Mode or even Arcade Mode will load the race, the course, and the opponent cars if present, but the player's car will not appear. Attempting to start the race will cause a hard-lock; the system freezes and will not respond to controller input.
The system needs to be hard reset at this point. A hidden vehicle added in Version 2.02: Yet another nearly identical vehicle, this one to the Gran Turismo RACING KART 125, with hardly any differences. Obtaining this vehicle required a user to have purchased multiples of any downloadable content that was released in October 2011, such as multiple Paint Packs for example; a one-time Gift Car Coupon of the vehicle would then be added to the player's inventory.
As aforementioned, there are only very minor differences compared to the base vehicle, even sharing the same exact description as it. In its name most-likely means 'special', in that this vehicle came in six uniquely-shaded metallic colors: Violet, Black, Red, Green, Orange, and Blue. What's interesting is that the vehicle cannot be sold or removed from the player's Garage in GT Mode. As obtaining this vehicle the intended way relied on purchasing downloadable content, which has since been delisted and is no longer available, it is now considered both hidden and rare. Despite the base vehicle being coded as DLC, this variant is not; it can be added to the player's Garage in GT Mode by hacking it into the save data, or it can be raced as in Arcade Mode, or against as an opponent vehicle by using the game's Secret options.
The second hidden vehicle added in Version 2.02: This car is a second concept version of the Toyota 86 GT '12, another car which was also added in this version as a free gift to all players. Obtaining this car not only required users to purchase the Complete Pack DLC released in October 2011, but also an additional item that was in the Complete Pack, such as additional Paint Packs or Racing Gear Packs; a one-time Gift Car Coupon of the car would then be added to the player's inventory. It is available in two colors, and despite being labelled as a Premium car, it lacks a detailed interior. Like the vehicle above, it cannot be sold or removed from the player's Garage in GT Mode. Also like the vehicle above, obtaining this car the intended way relied on purchasing downloadable content, which has since been delisted and is no longer available, so it is now considered both hidden and rare. It can be added to the player's Garage in GT Mode by hacking it into the save data, or it can be raced as in Arcade Mode, or against as an opponent car by using the game's Secret options. (Source: ) A few interesting things to note about these cars:.
All of these cars, with one exception, are just variants of models that are already available (or have been added) in the game with GT Academy 2012 graphics and plates. The one exception, which is the Nissan GT-R Black edition Tuned Car (GT Academy) '12, is a uniquely tuned model, similar to the Nissan 370Z Tuned Car '08. The Nissan Leaf G (GT Academy) '11 and the Nissan GT-R Black edition (GT Academy) '12 are not coded as DLC cars, while their base models are. Each one of these cars has their base model colors available, as well as an additional color, which is the default: Aurora Flare Blue Pearl (2P). The Nissan GT-R Black edition (GT Academy) '12 and the Nissan GT-R Black edition Tuned Car (GT Academy) '12 have the same color selection. All cars have the exact same descriptions as their base models.
The Nissan GT-R Black edition Tuned Car (GT Academy) '12 has the same string at the bottom of its description as the Nissan 370Z Tuned Car '08 denoting that it's a special tuned model. All of these cars, including the Nissan GT-R Black edition Tuned Car (GT Academy) '12, are able to be tuned. All of these cars can be removed from the player's Garage in GT Mode, but they have no resale value. As both the competition and the distribution of the cars has long since ended, along with online services for both titles now offline (with GT Academy 2012 downright being inaccessible), all of these cars are now considered both hidden and rare. They can be added to the player's Garage in GT Mode by hacking them into the save data, or they can be raced as in Arcade Mode, or against as opponent cars by using the game's Secret options. However, these cars were not added to the Secret options until Version 2.08. An unused car added in Version 2.10: This is an identical clone of the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Test Prototype that was added in Version 2.09 with some weird differences.
There's some odd things about this particular car, with the very first one being its name. Its manufacturer is Gran Turismo despite the car being an exactly identical clone of the car mentioned above, right down to its performance and looks, with perhaps the one and only difference being that it lacks the 'Corvette' rear plate.
The car also doesn't have a description page. The purpose behind this particular clone is unknown; in relation to its name, perhaps it was meant to dummy-out another car entry? Who's to say?
This car's internal name is ' corvettec7proto13bmun', whereas the internal name of the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Test Prototype is ' corvettec7proto13bm', with the only sole difference being that this car has a 'un' suffix added to the end of its ID. Perhaps the filename and the internal ID's suffix mean 'unused'? As the car is not used anywhere in the game, it is otherwise hidden in the game's data, inaccessible by normal means. While the car that this one is cloned from is coded as downloadable content, this one is not, therefor it can be added to the player's Garage in GT Mode by hacking it into the save data, or it can be raced as in Arcade Mode, or against as an opponent car by using the game's Secret options. Although, starting with Version 2.12, the car becomes inaccessible:.

A screenshot of the rear of the car. Note the missing rear plate. Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010 5G The final hidden car, added in Version 2.10, with three variations: This is a unique derivative of the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010 that was used exclusively for the Japanese-only Red Bull '5G' Gaming Championship. As aforementioned, the car was used for the 2012 Red Bull '5G' gaming championship; Gran Turismo 5 was one of the five games featured. A Japanese-exclusive Seasonal Event was held with the car, which served as the qualifying round to the competition. What sets this particular derivative apart is its host of differences.
The most obvious difference is the performance, with the fan system being disabled, reduced horsepower and RPMs, and a passive suspension system. The engine note is also different. While the body is mostly the same as its original base models, some elements have changed. The front wing now has raised rear lips and fluorescent yellow coloring on the side edges, and the rear wing is slightly taller and features Red Bull 5G logos on each side, also colored in fluorescent yellow but at the top edges. The Polyphony Digital logos that appear above the headlights on all three of the X2010 models are replaced with Red Bull 5G logos instead, which also appear on the sides of the body right below the rear end of the canopy.
The engine bay cover is also in a monochromatic scheme with a primary solid black color and the same Red Bull vinyl design in white. It has a different underside compared to the other X2010s. The final visual difference is the logo graphics on the wheel covers, replaced with Pirelli graphics instead of Bridgestone ones much like on the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010 JP Flag Color above. (Source: ) There are three variants of this model:. The first variant, internally named ' x20105g12' is the one as described above. The second variant, internally named ' x20105g12dl', is rather interesting; it is what appears to be a copied edit of the Gran Turismo Red Bull X2010 S.Vettel. It reuses the car's color scheme without any of the changed graphics, but does have the same changed front and rear wings as well as the different underside.
Yet, this variant has the performance parameters of the colored X2010 and the prototype; the description for all three of the X2010s is also reused for this variant. It is not exactly known why this variant has these characteristics. The third variant, internally named ' x20105g12fin', is exactly identical to the first variant, with the sole difference being the removal of the Pirelli logo graphics on the wheel covers. What is also worth noting is that the first and third variants come in the same selection of colors as the colored model of the X2010, but unlike that car, these variants are able to be resprayed at GT Auto.
They also have their own description present, complete in English, which tells the key differences of the car, has a typo of 'X2012' in the second paragraph and also a hint denoting that it might have been intended for players to obtain at some point: To determine the king of all gamers in Japan, Red Bull Japan hosted the Red Bull 5G tournament in the Fall of 2012, where participants compete in five different games from five different genres. Created especially for this tournament was the Red Bull X2010 5G, a detuned version of the X2010 fantasy racecar. The original X2010 was our quest to create the fastest racing car on earth.
Assisting in the development of the X2012 was Adrian Newey, the genius architect of the championship Red Bull Formula 1 car. He proposed bringing back ‘Fan Car’ technology seen in the Chaparral 2J Can-Am and later in the Brabham BT46, which utilized a giant fan to suck the car to the ground to maintain maximum grip through corners. Newey chose for the engine a compact high output twin-turbocharged V-6 that could shoot the X2010 to more than 311 mph. And when this power was combined with the ability to pull more than 8Gs through corners, you had the makings of one amazing machine.
The 5G is a racecar that has been slightly modified to serve as a training tool for the heralded X2010, meaning it’s not as lethal. Based on the X2010, maximum engine rpm and turbo boost pressures have been decreased, resulting in slightly less power. Also, the “fan” system has been disabled, but modifications were made to the car’s body to maximize cornering grip. These changes include a higher rear wing and a different underbelly that results in better control of airflow underneath the car.
The active suspension has also been replaced with a conventional passive type, allowing the driver to feel subtle changes in suspension settings. This special version of the X2010 designed for the Red Bull 5G competition is a true driver’s car. Give it a go and experience for yourself the thrill that only this new racing machine can provide. The car was only used in the Japanese-exclusive Seasonal Event and was not able to be obtained normally, so it, along with its two variants, are otherwise hidden in the game files. They can be added to the player's Garage in GT Mode by hacking them into the save data, or they can be raced as in Arcade Mode, or against as opponent cars by using the game's Secret options. Third variant, with no Pirelli logos.
Completely Unused Cars There's already quite the substantial roster of playable cars to choose from, but there's also a few of them not present anywhere in the game except inside its data files. Only some remnants, such as thumbnails, of these cars remain. Race Modification prototypes There exist thumbnails of what appear to be very early renditions of the Race Modified models for the Lexus IS F '07 and the Lotus Elise 111R '04, according to the filenames. These thumbnails depict the cars with very simple modifications to their exteriors, with the only difference being that they have a rear wing equipped.
Seeing as the cars only have a very simple yet noticeable difference to their appearance, these models might have been quickly prepared for use in testing the Racing Modification system at GT Auto for when the game exchanges the base model of the car to the Race Modified model. The Lotus Elise looks very similar to the leftover Tuned variant of the car as seen below in the next section, but the thumbnail is in fact a different file. Suzuki SWIFT Sport Tuned Car FPV cars Surprise!
The second of the two consumer Australian makes from the predecessor game, the former being Holden, is present, but only exists as two small thumbnails in the game's data files. These cars look as if they were used within the game, but do not appear at all for some reason; these cars were present in, however. While one could infer that the developers simply forgot to include the cars in the game, some text strings on the in-game manual for the importation of cars to use in Arcade Mode from the PSP spinoff title suggest otherwise that the cars were purposely excluded from the game, either due to licensing or other reasons: Once a connection is established, you will be able to import Car Collection data from Gran Turismo® for the PSP system to Gran Turismo 5.
The cars you import will be stored in the Portable Garage in Arcade Mode. Some of the cars you import will not be usable in certain races.
The following cars cannot be imported from Gran Turismo® for PSP system to Gran Turismo 5: BMW Concept M5 '04 FPV F6 Typhoon FPV GT '04. The unique decal used on the side panels of the car. Unused Tuned Cars There exist small thumbnails of more unused tuned variants of cars. Going by the filenames (listed in the gallery below), these might have been used when the game was still in its early development stages alongside the other tuned cars (seen above), closer to Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.
What's interesting to note is that a majority of these cars went on to evolve and become Racing Modifications, scrapping the tuned variants entirely in favor of the Racing Modification models. They closely resemble those models albeit lacking some detail such as driver numbers on the sides of the cars. TVR Tuscan Speed 6 Tuned Car Red Bull X1 Concept There's a small thumbnail of what appears to be either a LOD model or a concept version of the Gran Turismo Red Bull X1 (later renamed to and presently known as the Red Bull X2010). The lack of detail or any graphics on the model could indicate an LOD model for the car, but the car possesses a different physical appearance when compared to the models that do appear as playable in the game, most notably the car's headlights, which could mean that this is possibly an early concept version.
A hint of this being a concept version is the thumbnail's filename of ' x1f10', which is shared with the thumbnail for the playable Prototype (naked carbon) version of the Red Bull X1, itself being ' x1f1000'. An animated GIF showing a comparison of the car in contrast to the three X1 models that are playable.
Text-Only entries Text entries for the cars below exist in the game files. Nothing else but the names of these cars remain. A thumbnail with the filename of ' slrmclaren03spcolor', this image depicts a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren '03 in red, a color that is not normally available from its selection. This car is actually from from, but only in European regions. Another note of interest about this thumbnail apart from the car's color is that there is a reflection of the car at the bottom of the image, a detail that all other car thumbnails lack; all car thumbnails in the game have shadows, but lack a reflection, like this one has. Considering that this is a leftover from the PSP spinoff title, perhaps this depicts the game's thumbnail system from early in development?
